Home Base
Open Home Base
Won’t open? Turn on the Tailscale app on this device, then tap Reload or the button again.
If it doesn't open
Home Base lives on your Mac, so it opens only on your own devices with Tailscale turned on.
- Open the Tailscale app on this device and switch it on, so it says Connected. If it asks you to sign in, use the same account as your Mac.
- Come back here and tap Open Home Base. If you are looking at an error page instead, just tap Reload on it (or tap Back to return here).
- Still nothing? Check that your Mac is awake and online.
If you see “the server can't be found” or “this site can't be reached,” nothing is broken. It usually means this device isn't connected to Tailscale yet.
Make it connect by itself
In the Tailscale app, open its settings (on iPhone and iPad: tap your picture or initials in the top right) and turn on VPN On Demand. Set Wi-Fi and Cellular to Always.
Tailscale then reconnects by itself, so you shouldn't need to switch it on again. If you ever use a different VPN app, open Tailscale once afterwards to hand it back.
Tailscale says Connected, but it still won't open
- In Tailscale, Exit Node should say None.
- Close any other VPN or ad-blocking app for a moment, then try again.
- On a computer, in Chrome: Settings, Privacy and security, Security. Set Use secure DNS back to its default. (Chrome on iPhone and iPad has no such setting, so skip this there.)
- Only as a last try, on iPhone or iPad: turn off iCloud Private Relay (Settings, your name, iCloud), test, then turn it back on.
